Here you can see the amount of water standing on the sandy soil.

See how the modern style chutes are different in shape?

The drop went well with only one British lad hurting a ankle. I later saw him on the ferry home with it in plaster.

We met up with Al as arranged. Here I am with him. The sun was very bright as you can see.

Al wanted to jump this year like he did last year, but he could not get insurance as he has a sell out British tour booked and they would not cover him in case the tour had to be cancelled!

My wife Lez with Anouk our Dutch friend. You might be wondering about ATS girls wearing the Red Beret?

Four ATS girls on General Hackett's staff at 4th Parachute Brigade HQ were given the right by him to war the Red Beret. They were all telephone operators. To paraphrase Michael Caine "Not a lot of people know that".

We were on the DZ from about 9am until 12.30pm. After which we went on the vehicle tour, "The Race to the Bridge". This follows the route taken by British forces to Arnhem bridge.

I was busy driving and did not get to take any photos but it was a great time and lots of people lined the route.

Afterwards we went to the "Airborne Battle Wheels" camp site, where this Schimmer turned up

Next we went to the Hotel Schoonord. This is the pub where all the Vets go and where we had our wedding reception last year.

Here we met forum member Luc We had a good chat and a pint. Luc intends putting on some kit next year providing his girlfriend does not find out

Luc got a good shot of the Dakota (doing a drop near the Hartenstien I think?)
