Here is the inside of the large dome which is a big feature to the museum. It is a stylised Parachute, but does look a little like a giant golf ball. Around the walls are plaques to all the Allied units and books listing all those KIA.

Here is a large "tree" onto which you could write a message of rememberance on one of the "leaves" and hang it there.

While we were inside the dome, it began to rain very hard Had I covered up the Jeep seats? So we had a run outside and quickly put the canvas roof up. We got a bit wet

Back inside again we had a coffee and waited for the rain to slow down. We hoped that the rest of our stay was going to be fine or the trip would be ruined

This photo was taken out of the window of the Sherman, actually a Canadian made "Grizzly". Marked as a tank from the Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry who were the part of XXX Corps who liberated the area along with the US 82nd A/B Div.

German PAK 75mm, a genuine relic from the battle. I think this now deserves a place indoors.

This tunic belonged to Harry Bestebreurtje.

(You have all seen "A Bridge Too Far"; "You are my Dutch advisor Arie" says Ryan O'Neil playing the part of Gen Gavin as they walk down the runway. )

More info on the man here:

Checkout the insignia Embroidered directly onto the jacket

Free Dutch titles again done directly onto the jacket. Outstanding stuff. I had to sneak under the rope barrier to take these pics as the assualt boat was in the way

The rain continued to pour down. After a snack meal of Fries and Mayo in the town I asked the other lads what they wanted to do? Our spirits were a little low as were all now a bit wet. We didnot want to drive too far as we were a bit tired from our journey.

"How about I take you to "Devil's Hill?" I asked? (This was the scene of heavy fighting during the battle and was part of the frontline until March 1945.) The lads all said yes as we could not get much wetter!

So off we went. The hill was a natural strong point was used as a hill fort in Medievil times.

This is the best place I think to see foxholes and trenches in this part of Holland.

The photos are dark due to the rain, but I think you will see the trench line zig-zagging up the slope?
