Paul Decker was a highly decorated airman and may have been just short of the Knightscross. He fought in many of the wars major battles Greece, Crete, Stalingrad etc. he won most of the major awards. This photo was taken when he was on leave in late 1944 wearing all his decorations. Air gunners Badge, EKII ribbon, EKI, Frontflug Spange, Kreta Cufftitle and DKiG<O</O

Sorry that should have been Soldbuch not flugbuch. (it was very late when I posted it)

"Late" that means 9 pints of Guiness? LOL! Your collection is fantastic. A real piece of history. Keep up the good work.

I picked up this group a few years ago, it is to a Oberfeldwebel Johann (Hans) Wachter, who flew with 2nd Staffel of I Gruppe KG55. The group was originally for sale with an a American dealer and consisted of a number of documents and a photo album. The album had about 130 photos in it, 14 of which were of the famous ace and Knightscross with oakleaves, swords and diamonds winner Walter Nowotny on a visit to a KG55 airfield. The group did not sell, (the price was rather high) and the dealer broke up the photo album and sold the photos singly on ebay. I bought 80 of the photos, but did not get the Nowotny ones. The dealer put the documents back up for sale, which I bought. I picked up an unused WWII German photo album and rebuilt the album using old corner mounts. The group consists of his Reich Arbeitsbuch (Reich Labour Service Workbook), a Reich labour service promotion document, promoting him to foreman, his EKII and EKI document, his Frontflug Spange in Gold, a very interesting copy of his Honour Goblet document (it’s old and in a paper very similar to original document paper and it does not glow when put under a UV light, but its not original) and a Ehrenpokal Honour list which has his name in it. <O</O
Hans Wachter was awarded the EKII in 1/11/39 for service in the Polish campaign and the EKI for service in the attack in the west and the Battle of Britain, he was wounded along with the rest of his fellow crew members when their He111 crashed due to engine failure in Russia on the 26th July 1941. He was awarded the frontflug spange in Gold on the 6th February 1944, the award document for this award is usual as it is signed by Generaloberst Ritter Von Greim, this document would usually be signed by the Geschwaderkommodore, not a general. He received the Honour Goblet on the 16th May 1944 and is listed in the honour list of 19th of June 44. <O</O
