An interesting group to an unteroffizier Alfons Keck of 14th staffel (Eis) KG55. 14th staffel was a specialist train busting unit. Which operated in Northern Russia, they mostly operated independently from the parent geschwader. Alfons Keck was a Bordschutzen (air gunner) and joined 4th Staffel KG55 which were based in Dijon in France, and served with 4th staffel from September 1943 to May 1944 when he transferred to 14th Staffel KG55 and served with them until the end of the war. His flugbuch (Logbook) shows that between February and April 45 he flew a number of supply flights for the enclosed fortresses of Glogau and Breslau and the last flight entered in the book on the 13th April 45 was to Breslau. Alfons Keck flew 65 combat flights, was awarded the EKII on the 18/8/44, the EKI on the 13/11/44, the wound badge in black on the 15/8/44, the Spange in Bronze on the 21/7/44, and the Spange in Silver 19/3/45, the document for this award is very interesting as it is not an official document but a unit produced one. Alfons Keck survived the war. The group consists of his Flugbuch, his Luftwaffe id card, his Bordschutzenschein (air gunners licence), his Air gunners badge document, his EKII, his EKI, his Spange bar in Bronze and Silver, and Wound Badge in Black documents, his discharge document, a medical document dated 30/6/45 and his school report booklet 1934 to 1937. <O></O>Attached FilesLast edited by jim murray; 04-06-2012, 05:15 PM.

By the time he was physically awarded the KC it was July 1944 whilst serving as an instructor with NJG 102.
Got photos of this ceremony also.

I got the date form the back of the photo, but who ever took it might have made a mistake.

Well spotted, I misread the back of the photo. It should have read the 9th of June 44 not the 4th of June.<o></o>
Thank you for the help. <o></o>Photos/images copyright © Ian Jewison collection
