An interesting group to the highly decorated Oberleutnant Rudolf Scheidig, an observer who flew with II, III, IV Gruppen KG55. He was in action on the first day of the war. He flew 9 combat missions in the Polish campaign, 26 in the Battle for France and the attack on the low countries and 68 in the Battle of Britain and the Blitz up to 31/5/1941. From the start of the Russian campaign up until the 10/6/1942 he flew 116 combat missions. He was in action for the entire war, he was awarded the EKII on the 24/11/39, the EKI on the 18/9/40, Spange bar in Bronze, Silver and Gold, on the 25/1/42 he received the Honour goblet, on the 16/7/42 he was awarded the DKiG and on the 15/3/43 the Krim shield. Rudolf Scheidig survived the war and became a member of the KG55 veterans association.<O</O
