Greg,, Soutache remnants or not your beautiful Frankenstien is still highly desirable and a keeper for sure.. Somewhere I do have some images of the Artillery Frankenstien,, I will try and find them and see if I can get permission to post..

PAOLORUBENS, Thanks for sharing your Italian tropical piths, all in amazing condition, sadly we sometimes forget about these, nice to see ..

The seller of this photo imagined this to be a latrine but it is more likely a bunker or elaborate foxhole. The back of the photo is simply marked "vor Tobruk":

This is a photo showing how the same soldier appeared in uniform. You may notice the Italian-German Remembrance medal worn under his left pocket, also the unusual wearing of the high boots with long (straight-leg) trousers:

There is nothing unusual about this; most of these medals appear to have been awarded in early '42, while soutaches were still appearing on caps.

Thats an excellent photo OSS with many interesting details. Love how tall that cap appears on his head .

Now I have my hands on this fine frankenstein cap I can confirm that I did manage to find a very small tuff of Pz Gren thread to the left opening. My pics dont do justice to the olivey green shade but needless to say I love it.

Thanks Mark, it takes me roughtly just over a year & half to find a cap so at that rate I should be able to find a soutached example in about 10 -15 years
