Hi Paolo, here is some more of the POW postcards similar to yours, I always found these very interesting: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...tcards&page=92

It's a huge thread, good luck

Indeed - some wonderful period images. The use of a tropical sidecap in a formal studio portrait in the last set is very distinctive...
Paolo - In post 2300, top left, the NCO is wearing what looks to be a variant m40 cap...can you take a close look using a magnifying glass and see if the false turn-up panel is missing, please? (I think I can see the upper sewing line, but I'd just like to check....)
                  Regards,
                  Mark

Mark , what a great eye ... there's actually a sewing ; I was checking twice at this picture mostly for the eagle and the shape on top that was " strange " to me . I will try to take a closer picture with some of the lens I have ... but I think that without a macro won' be a good shot
... and thank you for the pic you posted; I appreciate that you are showing the cap you will sell me

... btw I think is better if I take a closer pic ( if I can ) and let you decide ... you are our caps mentor here

                        Paolo,
Thanks for taking time to look at the image for me. I am especially interested in any period photos of this extremely rare cap in wear, and own a few original images myself.
The profile of the cap in your photo has that 'slouched baseball' cap look of an m40 variant in wear, but this could simply be an affectation of the wearer.
Here is a group shot I have with all five soldier's wearing m40 variant caps. Only the seated gefrieter wears a 1st pattern tunic while the other four wear 2nd patterns.
Please - I am not a cap mentor - there are far more knowledgable guys on this forum who simply choose not to participate.
Look forward to hearing about the photo,
                        Mark

                            Hi Mark and others,

on your picture (post # 2306) the soldiers are wearing puttees, thing quite commonly seen in Italy too. Do you know more about the regulations? In which case could they wear such puttees and do anyone would have a pair in their collection?

                            Cheers
                            Teka

This still needs to be sorted out. A partial of the collection.
