Painting Mannequins (By Request!)

Time to add to this one...
Here's an in progress figure I'm doing along with two others.
Here's how it initially looked....

...after sawing off the 'hair' and filling the cavity with styrofoam I covered the cap with car-body filler and sanded the surface smooth...

Head undercoated and eyes drawn in with pencil to give 'focus' to the character...

...undercoated with the basic skin colour and left to dry. Then sections were painted and highlighted with pure red as described previously....
(I think I'll call this guy 'Lex'...)
More to come once the eyes etc are added.

'He'll' be a full mannequin. the arms will be a small problem as one is two inches longer than the other, even though they are a set....crazy!
The face is very basic, but it's saving grace is the 'attitude'...he looks quite
The photos make the flesh colours seem extremely sharp and harsh, but that's not the case now the paint has dried. Once I put a coat or two of lacquer on top with a tint to replicate sunburn the colours will be even more diffused.

Some fantastic work being done here and some incredible displays. The only problem is that most of the faces are too fresh, smooth, wrinkle free, male-model like; not like grizzled veterans, more like fresh teenage recruits. The technique Mark uses for building eyebrows with putty should work for building scowls, crows-feet around the eyes, maybe some lumps, scars, creases, and plain ugly faces etc that you see on everyday faces and even more so on combat veterans after months under stress, living in climatic extremes without shelter, hit-or-miss diets, little sleep, combat stress etc. Has anyone attempted this look?

Hello everybody
After a long stop, I´m back again with my last attempt
I must tell I have worked with acrylic paitings. I notice is difficult to mix the red in highlights with the last coat because the paint dries too fast I consider
I think I will try with enamels next time

I´d like to mix the acrylic laquer with a touch of sand in the last coat to get a light tanned tone
