      Any problems with constructive critics? The faces are still looking like unrealistic and unnatural plastic mannequin dolls.

      I woudn't dress them with my uniforms because I don'z want to have a "Geisterbahn" at home.

      This is my private opinion. You don't have to share it. ;-)

                    Hi Mark
                    This is my first serious attempt.
                    I have used acrylic Vallejo spanish paints.
                    In fact the final result is more "pinkish" than shown in the photo.
                    I´d like to get a more tanned tone and less pink one ( like some Hindsgaul mannequins) but when I add more sand-brown colour to get it, I use to ruin the final tone
                    Do you have any advice?

                            Hi Joan,
                            Great Stuff! If that's a first attempt, then we are in for a very classy display in the near future.
                            My advice is to find colours that are as close as you can to the Humbrol colours I started the thread off? (I once went short with red while mixing up a base colour so used another which I thought would fill the gap...and wound up with a 'rosey/purple' colour that was useless.)
                            Practice with the base colour. I always doubt that I have it right as it looks awful to start with, but, once the red is added to the highlights it pulls everything together.
                            The heavily tanned skin finish you are looking for (and something I am experimenting with for my DAK guys) can be added by using a thin layer of acrylic lacquer tinted with ochre. This (I think) over the 'natural' skin tone deepens the skin to a more realistic finish than trying to work the sun-tan into the actual paint colours being applied.

                              Yes, as far as I could see, these acrylic colours are really similar to the Humbrol enamels.
                              I ruined several skin base colours because I though they were too light, but is totally certain than once the red spots are applied, everything fits together.
                              I will follow your advice to get the tanned tone. I did several mixes, but any reached my espectations.
                              Mark, do you use the same redish tone of the base to paint the inside of the lips?

                                I do, but I mix more of the blue in as there are more blood vessels in the lips. I then add more red with a touch of white to the mix to blend the lot together....
