Having studied this award in some detail, all I can say is "NIce, very very nice indeed".....do you have a scan of the reverse by any chance ?

Actually, several of his effects have recently come onto the market from the same source, including his interim GFM baton.

Sperrle was awarded the combined PO badge with Diamonds 1st November 1937. He was therefore and early recipient.

      Diamonds

This type of award piece usually has a yellow gold back frame to the eagle and swastika, the obverse features being in platinum. (This was done for a specific reason).

(A scan of the reverse would confirm this I'm pretty sure)

            Good un.

From what I can see from the single shot of the obverse, my opinion so far would be "original."

There are (at least) three distinct types of award piece, of which this in one.

Ref "who made them"....there are two lines of thought Sal, as you will be aware. I favour that of these being made in Germany.

              Maker

Sal...have you had a chance to study the pictures on the H Historica site ?

This piece comes in a case with the makers name and mark of

              "DGW - Deutsche Goldschmiedekunst-Werkstätten Berlin-W."

              Now how about that !

The badge just does not warm my heart, as it should.
