Now I reckon that a (dim) light has been shed on the reason why there are many web/leather Y straps around,with genuine WW2 or post-war web parts;the Czech Army adopted a "mixed media" model in the 50s,which adds to the ones found without the rear straps and promptly"pressed into use" by Europen dealers who's passed them over to their US colleagues!
