      Hi all,
as an addition to this thread Mietek has kindly sent me some images of Czech equipment to add to the thread.
It is interesting to see that although WW2 German items were an influence at times, there is little resemblance to their wartime counterparts.
This small addition does not of course cover the items that are forged en masse in the Czech republic with the explicit intent to deceive, or the (i assume) transitional period that the fledgeling Soviet client state found itself in during the early cold war period, when it must have used German surplus to arm and equip itself from the percieved threar from the west.
Either way, this is an interesting addition to a knowledge base.
      Thanks Mietek .

Comment from him are in italics......
"Czechoslovakian gear is from 50’s except belt 80’ and gasmask bag 60’

      1) bread bag, shape based on German ww1, made only from material, different hooks, connected carrying belt (but early police had similar)
      2) Backpack – same model was probably used by Germans during ww2 – look findings in Poland:

      3) Canteen - if we see it without mug is easy to recognize that’s not a German. From another perspective, could be some problems.
      4) Belt – buckles are also without star, wide 45mm
      5) Zeltbahn – square shape, no metal parts (wooden buttons and leather)

If you want more detailed pictures, just mail me.

      Best Regards

      Mietek"

                        Belt and buckle....

Hopefully this should alay some of the fears in the community regarding Czech government issue items...i still think a reference work or article is required for the "transitional" era to finally quash some myths, but hopefully Mietek has helped us along the path!

PS......just realised that i've added this to the WRONG thread on webbing "Y" straps..
Sorry for the blatant stupidity Gents........
