Czech post-war wen/leather straps SOLD AS REPROS on eBay...worth studying!

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...251267905&rd=1

Now I reckon that a (dim) light has been shed on the reason why there are many web/leather Y straps around, with genuine WW2 or post-war web parts;the Czech Army adopted a "mixed media" model in the 50s,which adds to the ones found without the rear straps and promptly"pressed into use" by Europen dealers who's passed them over to their US colleagues!
This eBay listing should make people re-consider their believing!
    Hope that helps

    Hi Manny,

i've often thought that amongst the subjects that are totally lacking in reference works (late war Luft ground troops uniforms for example ), a book detailing what the Czechs actually used and produced in the late 1940's and 1950's would be a fertile subject for collectors ....even a section in a reference would be a help to people.
    I live in hope.....

    Patrick.

Czech Y-straps also are VERY cheap. I just bought Y-straps+backpack for less than 5 USD (in Czech Rep.). Unissued condition, made in 1952.
Actually will be more problems for unexperienced collectors. Czech canteens, breadbags, torches etc. based on german ww2 stuff. However they are clearly marked, with two crossed swords.

          Hello Mietek,
i, for one, would be very interested in seeing a Czech breadbag if you have one to share?

          All the best,

          Patrick.

            Hi Mietek,
I think it would be great if you'd onlybe so kind and post a few pictures of Czech equipments....if you're not allowed to yet just send them to me and I'll post them for you!
            Cheers

For a honest eBay seller(an exception, rather than a rule these days!)there are many others who knowingly, willingly and gladly sell these straps as originals !
