There are Gollner coffee boxes being sold now with full contents. Of course they look identical to this 1950s ad. Certainly calls into question whether any of the Gollner items are wartime. Jim

Andy,
The Nest brand is indeed from Nestle. I can't figure out what exact timeframe it was used. Here is a comparison with two 1960s Nestle tins. One is marked NEST. The lid on your can is only marked NEST while the other ones are marked Nestle. So I'm confident it pre dates those 2 cans.JimAttached Files

In the ration book we showed this Weisse Garde carton. Because it lacked any tax stamps we believed it might not be a tobacco product but some type of cookie. We spent all our time trying to research the brand name to no avail. What we should have asked was "is it even wartime"? Everyone accepted the item as wartime and we honestly didn't make that extra effort in trying to research it. On several items in the book you'll notice that we weren't able to research the product, but was able to research the manufacturer of the package or the printer. Had we done this we would have followed the fact that the printer was: ''Kunst im Druck - Obpacher AG - Munchen 25".
These guys were a prolific firm and printed books, posters, postcards, boxes, etc. Heres their history:
<OCompany History:
-Gebr. Obpacher set up by brothers Johann and Joseph Obpacher on April 15, 1867.
- In 1888 converted into a joint-stock company (AG), named: Lith-Artist. Anstalt Muenchen, formerly Gebr. Obpacher AG.
-By 1920 renamed: Druckerei u. Kartonnagen Gebr. Obpacher AG. The firm name was still being written as Gebr. Obpacher AG München
-In 1950: Kunst im Druck Obpacher AG.
-1988 went out of business.
So this carton appears to have been printed after the war. I have also attached a picture of a book printed in 1938 annotated as: "Gebr. Obpacher AG München", J. J. Arnd, Verlag Übersee-Post, Leipzig, 1938.
If you goggle the phrase "Kunst im Druck Obpacher AG" you will find a number of postwar dated items written in this manner. I found no wartime dated items written in this manner. There were several products that the posters thought were wartime but none were dated. Jim

Jim,
The 1943 Colonialwaren Shopkeeper's Magazine I have has an ad for Nestle. It is called "Ideal Milch", and has a three initial design on the front in calligraphy of sorts. I will scan the ad when I have time.
btw, Good find on the Weisse Garde. I am sorry I have been selling them as original but no one is perfect and I guess they are only $5.00 so It wasnt that bad... I can't authenticate everything! What a tool the Internet now is for research. Couldnt have done these things even 10 years ago.

Hey Kevin-Any pic?
Thomas- Its hard to authenticate rations and personal items as you know. I probably invested 6-10 hours on tracking down the Weisse Garde cartons. Most folks won't or can't devote that much energy on a item that costs less than $20. So a lot of ration stuff was blessed as wartime because it looked old. Everyone was selling them as wartime, fortunately they aren't a big money item. Jim

Hello. I have spent a couple of hours, reading trough and looking at pictures in this thread.
I have a few ration items myself. Some of these, I am quite confident are original german ww2 issue.
Others I am more insecure about the origin and date of manufacture.
I'll post some pics. These first two tins, am I quite sure are from the war, but any opinions and information about these are most welcome.
