nice zelts Edwin, the different coloured one reminds me of Italian zelt colours almost, is an earlier produced one looking at the buttons etc..

Have to check my lot for the open pattern print, believe I have one

      Thanks

                Fellow zelt collectors!!!!!!

I just stumbled onto this thread, spending the last hour going through it and checking stamps - super thread and great to see so much interest in the zelts.

So great to see all the contributions everyones made. I am always amazed at the new things that keep popping out of the wood work. The two zelts with White RbNr stamps were a first for me.

I'll try and post some pics of some of my pieces later.

Bruno, the first one you posted looks like the maker on my brown zelt, on the first page, cant work out the name though

welcome barqs, is worth the money to join, then also you can add some photos,

                  HI John

I see you never had a answer on the maker of your brown zelt - it is:
                  "L.L.G. der Segelmacher Berlin 1940 7"

Many of the brown variants I've seen have this maker stamp. Tried posting a pic of the stamp which is somewhat more clear but the pic is too big and Im not sure how to reduce its size.

Will try to get a better pic later.

                  Thanks

                    Mark,
You have a clue why 80% of the brown zelt have no makers mark at all ?? I've owned quite a few of tham and they never have any markings whats so ever
And....have they only been produced in 1940 ?

                    Cheers

                    Edwin

                      Hi Edwin

When ever I see anything relating to zelts your name always appears somewhere there - ha ha. Good to talk to you again.

BTW - sent you a message on ebay regarding your zelt for sale - can you send me the RbNr. I cant quite make out the last number - its a little important for me since there is an RbNr. almost the same making Knockensacks.

RE browns - of the 7 I have 5 have stamps - '38, '39, '40 and '42 all have Segelmacher stamps. The other I cant read the stamp.

Werner also has a bunch of browns, one of which is '43 with an RbNr.

We still have no idea why the browns were made but since they werent in Africa in 38 Im not so sure this is such a good theory - perhaps for more arid areas in general like S. Italy etc. but this is all just guessing. Ive tried to get a history from every brown I've bought without a drop of luck and its really frustrating. One I bought from a gentleman in Germany - it was his father's, he use to play with it as a kid but had no idea what part of the military his dad was in. His father is gone and with him the history as so often happens.

Several years ago when I was in Chiney with Werner, he bought 3 browns from some Czech guys but no history on them. Since Werner saw the guys pulling them out of the box he got the gem, I got the ratty one and another buddy got the middle of the road piece.

It would be really helpful if other collectors could post pics of their browns and the stamps on them particularly if they're dated.

                      Thanks
                      Mark

                        Hi Micha,
This first zelt is interesting - has a maker stamp dated '37 however has a Berlin Depot stamp dated '36. Are you able to read the maker stamp and can you post what it says. Difficult to read from the pics and its not a maker Im familiar with.

                        Thanks for posting your zelts

Here is a maker mark I could use some help with. I believe its a '32 zelt and was hoping someone out there might be able to fill in the details of this maker for me.

                          Any help greatly appreciated.

                          Thanks

Here are some pics of the goodies Ive managed to aquire. I posted similar pics earlier in the SS forum but seems more appropriate here. Front row are planetrees #1 to #6. Back row Wh splinters with browns on the top, more splinters, solids and then blurred edge and Oaks on the right.

                            thanks

Reminds me of Werner's collection .
The maker mark from the '32 dated Zelt looks familiar, but can't remember where I put my list with manufacturer logo's...Will have to dig it up.

                                Sincerely,
                                Vincent S.
