BTW - its an e.m.k. 42 (I put that wrong as a smk in my first post)

here are the markings:
e.m.k. 42 on the bottle and harness, R&K on harness and cover, and RFI43 on the cup

Thank You for providing useful informations about this 1942 dated canteen. It seems to be rare maker. Would be just perfect if You had it paired with matching cup. The best if it was aluminium cup. I bought once 1943 dated aluminium canteen, with common maker: W.A.L. but with alu cup, which is totally unmarked.

I dont think there is anything wrong - but alu cup made in 43 would be even better catch
