Is it a design that can be considered suitable a post war "work smock"? YES
Is it a design that did not exist during the war? NO

"Stand up" collar simple drillich fatigue uniforms existed in the KM and SS.Last edited by NickG; 09-09-2019, 02:36 PM.

So from a design point of view it is totally within the realm of WW2 fatigue wear designs and it mimics stand up collar leather panzer jackets (ex-KM).
Even the 3 seam back mimics standard production German fatigue jackets...
Does that make it for sure a WW2 piece....NO
Does that for sure make it a post war piece....NO
We just don't know. This is the final conclusion (at least for me)!

Hem... Just sayin'... pairs up nicely with this SS drilich…(albeit the collar and upper chest seam...and no drawstring (but its a tougher/stiffer cloth too)
made from zelt pieces, so why not? Stuff like that happened..Company tailors (Kompanie Feld Schneiderei) copying existing patterns...
recycling zelt...for camo purposes, as rain wear...Who knows...Last edited by NickG; 09-09-2019, 03:44 PM.

Same position : hand inspection is the only solution to be sure !
NickGive a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

Italian camo wrapper is not later made with used zelt...It has some wear areas but in outstanding condition he stated.
The fatigue style SS smock on the other hand has much more wear and the construction is old.
Not newly made with beat up zelt… When it was made is anybody's guess. Kammoman's opinion is just that...an opinion.Last edited by NickG; 09-09-2019, 04:23 PM.

At least get the terminology correct.
SMOCK: (English dictionary) " loose coatlike outer garment, often worn to protect the clothes while working..." (in a factory in 1946 perhaps?)

First it is a post war workers protective garment...(i.e. it is a SMOCK)
so I use the word "smock"...
and now it is a jacket.
OK fine AGREED!
It is a WW2 camouflage JACKET made by a company tailor! Settled!
