Do you actually think on 1946 anyone cared about a utility garment made from used SS cloth on the fall side when the man in the street didn’t even have a home to live in and who’s job it was to be a brick mason cleaning a flattened city ?

Here is the reality check to life post war defeated Germany
    Collectors think in narrow terms
Not in actual personal situations of a desperate people who basically had nothing but army surplus items to fashion into basic clothing items

The fantasy of it must be a combat piece is distorted
If you really wanted to do the jacket justice you could display it with a civilian shirt and tie with a cap
    That’s the harsh truth

The truth is we will NEVER know either way! Non standard creations existed during the war. PERIOD!
So you have to approach this hobby with an open mind sunshine!
Love the Italian camo pocket flaps, which match the pant legs! "Kompanie Feldschneiderei"!

I agree stuff was recycled. We all know that. and odd ball usefull stuff was created by Kompanie feldschneiderei...we all know that too. Scenario 1 does not alter the fact that scenario 2 also happened. I am open to both explanations as a possibility.
At least for this garment I do.

Exactly why we should not accept every remotely possible piece as an original.

Since its a dubious design I will display it with this "civilian workers" cap!
                        All good.
No big "text book" money was exchanged and nobody can prove either way, so worth the gamble for me (as a bonus item).
The Italian wrapper was the main target in the lot that I was after which btw is why I created this thread in the first place!
Am curious what the sleeve ghosts are...(strips/bars on both sides)...You would never adorn a protective garment...
(unless its rank related)... Weird stuff happened! Anyway...never say never...but don't pay top dollar for non textbook is the lessen here!
                        (which I didn't)

Post war people add things to emblish things that are not what they are
                          Do not be naive

That "civilian SS M43" image was an attempt in sarcasm Kammoman...didn't register as such with you. It's OK brother!

There were factories making workswear from SS camo (see the "m45 style"short dot jackets, all postwar made for workwear).

The planetree bluse bears no resemblance to any wartime field made thing with any provenance, much mess any of the styles on photos. There are literally countless examples of postwar things made from SS camo - one of the museums in Germany had a child's jacket made from a planetree 1/2 zelt (can't remember which museum?).

Again, it's a cool jacket, but to claim it as wartime made is hanging onto threads. I recommend looking at pics of Wiking and III./Nordland to see what the actual field made blusen looked like.
