Research Soviet Film Studio Markings with regards to Pink Smocks

George has said on numerous occasions that these smocks are no good and just chuckles when the subject is brought up.

We agree here. I spoke with him about these when we ran into each other in Germany ( West Germany then and at a show) around 1982 or 83. He did not like the color but most of all did not like the fact that they had the funny ink stamps and felt that they must be Eastern origin movie props.

I have written of this many times over the last 13 years on these threads. I thought and told him as much that he was wrong then and know that he was wrong now.

Of course time and life has a sense of humor, no way that he would have known in 1982 that about 7 years later he would find a hoard of uniforms in the USSR.....all with "funny" stamps, that he would be explaining to clueless collectors while trying to see these PZ wraps and OS caps at shows.

Regarding the eyelets
I suspect the maker of the pinks tried both holes and they were copying this standard type as found on this late war oak

Thats because they were made for Russian special forces to go behind the lines in SAS style raids.

Those are my thoughts Leroy. I would like to see the SS grey gloves which were mentioned way back somewhere around 2002-2003 somewhere on here which also apparently bear these same stamps.

Earlier someone had mentioned there was little camouflage used in Soviet films. Check this one "Liberation" which is done as several parts , I only watched the battle of Berlin segment (well worth watching BTW) . A number of Germans wearing Heer pullovers with hoods and a great closeup of one in a Lieber jacket. Both garments were represented in the Mosfilm vault. One garment was wearing a spotted parka but I couldn't tell what it was, not clear enough.

I think if and when the link and answer is found which is good enough for the tunnel vision of the masses, it will be very simple and powerful- and again reinforce non-consensus or not collecting by only "the standard"....what if we did archaeology in the same way....we would learn nothing....i love this thread, and i do think somebody knows something as well. Its not whats obvious, its whats left out, to be honest the stamps in all the other items, and new info have already convinced me, I have no problem owning one of these. Just my 2 cents.

I have shown without a shadow of a doubt that the pinks are NOT German WW2 made.
Therefore I am done on this thread and moving on to more satisfying topics.

Yes anomaly non German mfg...which for most other (non SS camo) items
could/would be acceptable...but for the pink "a kiss of death"...or is it?

Seems the Egyptians liked to copy German camo. See the first couple of paragraphs here: http://camopedia.org/index.php?title=Egypt A little later (@1956?), but "pink" would certainly work well in certain desert areas.

Just moving "outside the box" a bit (as a non-SS collector).
