Just so I am clear on what you are saying here Ian,

are you saying that Mark Bando put fake SS items in the Mike Beaver SS insignia book so such items could get authentication as original ?

Personally, I have been impressed with that book on SS insignia and find this accusation both alarming and surprising,

Hi Chris, not Mark, but there are a few fakes in there including one or two things which other specialists were unhappy about.

Let's not derail the cover thread though

          Cheers, Ian.

Just wasted an hour of my life reading this and the other thread.
I was expecting to learn why these camo covers sold by Lorenzo are fake with analysis and study to back it up but that never happened.

                  I would point this.
All speaks about fake italian covers.
I do not know if Lorenzo made it. Sincerely ? Not.
What I think? What all know but no one wrotes. Covers were made by another man in another nation and sold as fake many years ago . 90% of dealers bought them . market were filled og covers and for time and time passed all as good. I know there was a price about 3-400 marks. Also collectors bought from this man (and local dealer).
I do not know if Lorenz was one of them but for sure the smock on this story will never gone cause there are too many dealers involved.

I have not proofs but it's a story well known especially by old european collectors .

Lorenzo probably pay the bill... We

Actually 2 dealers had the balls to post about this, kudos to them.

One even admitted selling stuff he got from Lorenzo and offering money back to those who got scammed.

The other ones are just lurking this thread (you know who you are) and keeping their mouth shut.

They must have sold many of these covers.

Daniel I wrote another thing. Are you sure Lorenzo was the faker?
Probably he sold these fake... I am not able to judge.
All mean an iItalian job... But what old collectors know very well is also another hhistory before this saga.
An hhistory telling these covers were made in other country. Sold as fake privately. Made from original zelth etc and sold to dealers.
If Lorenz sold some of these he was only the point of an iceberg well known by old ccollectors.

I think many are happy Lorenz pay the bill.
Now is common voice is in Italian job and lorenz made.

I think not. Is another situation similar to champagne decal. A fake fr.original passed as good for 20 years.
And as champagne many know these covers were made by an hand in Europe. I will not reveal city cause I have no proofs but at least 6 confidence. More I ask and more story

                      become clear.

No im not 100% sure he was the one who actually made them.

but i am 100% sure he has his fingers in the jar with distributing them.

Can i prove anything?, no, probably not.

The prove key lies within the dealers and the ones who bought them, they know where they got them from, they probaly knew they were fake too, but could be sold as originals, the greed take over.

But with the fear of loosing thousands of euros, they keep their mouth shut.

This cover issue has been known for years....it had to end.

As he has been banned, i belivie the truth and proof is out there, but it cannot be said for reason to me unknown.

The truth cannot be revealed cause IMO (but i speak after crossing direct confidences of men which SEE covers) he was only the last.... Or maybe a collector which sold too many covers.
For a Lorenz it is simplier to sell without too much problems.
I do not defend Lorenz cause I know some trades heavily incorrect, do not attack cause I do not have proofs... But Daniel trust me... In waf and in USA dealers know well these covers before lorenz and sold them.

Much men are happy to see fight Kammo-Disco and happy all know about an Italian job....

                          And is not true.
Probably in Italy collected clips zelth and so on... As other places before cause who made these cover needs it.

Does anyone know for a FACT that Lorenzo manufactured the covers which are held as replicas? Or was he just one of dozens of sellers who had these as well as other items and sold them as real? I have read the threads; there is no evidence he made them.

Does anyone know for a FACT he was witting to the covers and other items being faked, and made a decision to sell them for "profit and greed"?

I can tell you that many big name dealers whom I have bought from directly and indirectly bought into various caches of items and sold them, and the items were bad. I have been burned by rock-solid provinance that turned to jello - how would anyone feel if the last cache of helmet covers turned out to be bad? Would everyone who bought and sold one be part of a huge conspiracy? Of course not.

If he made them and sold them as real, that's obviously wrong and he rates this online berating. But if he was just one guy out of a dealer base selling these unwittingly, this is just WAF witch-hunting.
