quite rare in ss scale of rarity. price for very good one from 2800 to 3200 euro. imo.

I would agree with VG, also keep in mind condition and soutache vs. non-soutache, officer grade, etc.

Dealer sites do generally price these higher than when these sell privately, and many are pieces on consignment which at times may be the reason for the higher pricing I would guess. If you look at Michael's other SS pz caps he's had recently (great pieces btw), all sold for more reasonable prices as VG suggested above.

I was a bit surprised when I saw that particular cap sell for that price, especially given the condition of the adler and the fact that other great original caps have been hitting the market for less. But hey, right time, right buyer.

These caps are rare but do come up fairly regularly across dealer sites and even here on estand once in a while. Bottom line, price is a sensitive topic since the market drives it - but averages have been shared with you.

Although VG is on my top 3 sites for balance of variety, quality and pricing, you cannot look at one dealer and consider that the benchmark for pricing, you need a broader range.

What is a Dachau M43 panzer cap and why it is a cheaper alternative?

jayjay pretty well summed it up. The Dachau M43 has two standout features - what is called the "Pirate" trapezoid insignia; and making it cheaper and faster to manufacture is the underside of the visor is not covered with cloth. It's probably the most common SS panzer cap, making it cheaper to buy.

Does it bother anyone, that the cap, shown in Post #4, seems to have fake double needle stitching ?
Do to the lack of uniformity, it seems to have been run through a single needle machine, twice. ??????????????????
