Here is an example of TRUE double needle stitching in a German Cap.
If it is not this good, I would be suspect.

The cap shown is a fatigue 1955 Bundesheer pattern for the Arbeitsanzug fatigue uniform of West Germany’s army. The specimen is made of sturdy Moleskin fabric, a variation introduced in the ‘60s. Not a befitting comparison to illustrate wartime sewing features.
