Wow long thread, I myself think these rings are rare as there was a limited number made and awarded and they were unique as being named to the individual owner which a lot of other awards weren't.

Is there any concensus on what was the exact number made and awarded and how many real rings survived the war and are around today ?

As to prices I think, some people have gotten greedy but remember they don't make them anymore.

    Just my 2 cents worth.

As far as prices go I think a lot of the disagreement would disappear if we just stipulate that prices are down - whether this is a temporary aberration or not is anybody's guess. This is like many other TR items - the market in general is down. There are not too many people who are paying 10K anymore, I see pieces selling for 5K - 7K, with some sales on well worn pieces down to $3000. Nothing unusual about that, it is just the market. The 12K price in Wittmann's site for example is IMO ridiculous. This is not a bad thing for HR enthusiasts, they may now be able to afford one. I think 90% of WAFers would agree with that statement - prices are down.

Now that´s funny: You mention examples of high prices like the one offered by Wittmann.

Where are the cheap ones to be had? Where are the bargains you are thinking of?

        Please do tell.

Thanks, have seen it - well, rarity and condition is key in today´s market.

And not paying $12,000 when everybody else is paying $5000 -$7000. Collectors should be happy they are now more affordable.
