How many times are you angrily scolded for making an observation about a tunic that brings it into question or because you knew the guy who sold it was one of the little factories?

There are real untouched SS tunics out there Beobachter some brought home by American Veterans....I knew a Veteran of U.S. Inteligence who brought back the entire uniform of a Hauptsturmfuhrer Wagner who served in the campaign a Narvik he even took period photos of himself wearing the uniform and fooling around with Wagner's wife Sofie. The uniform was stolen from him when a person borrowed it to wear on Halloween...its out there someplace.
Yes JP, people have accused both of us as being paranoid (mostly dealers on WA radar already, isn't that odd now?) but I have seen the handy work, the process and been have been told by many people this is true in Europe as well. This is one of the reason why I have mostly stopped posting. As my Grandfather said, no good deed ever goes unpunished.

There are still tunics and items out there but they are very very rare. I look all the time and have ads out and have antique shop owners all over the Midwest that call me when something comes in and I find one or two nice real out of the wood work tunics a year and almost always Army or LW. 30 years ago it was much more common when more Vets were alive. sadly many items were thrown out or lost etc. Almost everything I see now that is claimed to be "out of the woodwork" is questionable or can be demonstrated to have been played with or built entirely.

      Hi,
What amazes me is the that new collectors coming into the hobby as well as some older ones believe that they are so readily available that they can be obtained anywhere i know of one young man who claims to turn up a ss piece almost every month and they all come from the same small group of dealers?
he has the worst white para helmet iv'e ever seen ,he paid £800 from a uk dealer returned it when i laughed at it and still came back with it when the dealer told him it was real and it was the worst iv'e ever seen ,he also has a SS tropical tunic from the same dealer

I do worry that a lot of the items on that auction site are the "bastard stepchild" sets that never seem to find a permanent home and just move from dealer to dealer...

Based on the name tag and a few other details I would say yes. Ever see a ribbon bar that clean? Only the fake crimped brass catch ones. Love to see the visor up close. Looks to be bad just from one the shots there. I can tell you right up front wrong sweatband. I dont like the bird on the tunic either. Looks like one big POS. Some of the items I seen before and they were not in a group. Board of experts?

From the one picture you posted, it looks like a stone mint RZM issue tunic, probably VA1939 dated.

I don’t believe one word of that cock and bull vet bring back story. There are red flags on every item. The visor has issues (wrong sweatband and became gen in 44 but bullion piping on an early Pekuro) and the tunic has major issues. The guy was assigned to a PZ unit when he was a major (as the date and rank of the tunic shows) Why would he own an Arty piped tunic? Prior to that he served in an armored corp. Ask Peter for a pic of that (IMO) fake ribbon bar showing the back. I have money that it has the fake round crimped brass catch. Tags sewn in very odd, bird looks bad, ect. Oh by the way the only thing connecting this to a vet bring back is a story and a box. A box that had the stamps removed. Why? It had a post mark with date. The date must not of coincided with his capture date.
