bnz - that's a nice collection of suspensions you have there. You should have left the photo there

Maybe you can clear up this confusion - in one thread you said this about your SS Panzer wraps when I asked if they were unissued pieces:

I only added awards, they came with the insignia, of course, restored (partially) but I don't mind about it, they (ss-wraps) are all restored.. plus go find an 'untouched TK' wrap, I don't even believe they exist. Everything is original is all what I care.
I think you are wrong, Glenn, they were always SS Pz. wraps, with different insignia - yes, but all original and still SS Pz. wraps.

but in another thread you said only the eagle was originally applied and added two photos of one wrap:

And then come back and try to proove us that it is indeed "untouched". How can you know for 100% certainty that it has not been restored? It is not that hard to make everything EVEN as if all insignia was applied 70 years ago. Original thread - at any time of any color, 70-year-old Singer sewing machine - just make a wish. You will be lucky if you can find a decent restored one.
I personally see almost no difference in 'restored or 'untouched' tunics. I would never pay 2 X times (of restored) for 'untouched' tunic. Both are equally exciting pieces of history.

Only eagle on this piece is originally applied; even belt buckle is put-together with its belt

So if this wrap only came to you with only the eagle applied, then you would have added:

          collar tabs
          cuff title
          shoulder boards
          Russian Front Ribbon
          Old Fighters Chevron
          Tank Destruction Strip
          German Cross in Gold

          Am I missing something here

Gentlemen, aren't we getting off track? the subject is Herr Weitze I believe.

This thread has descended into an adult version of 6th grade recess. Granted, I've been guilty of this before, however, I've also been lambasted for it and don't like to get involved with these conflicts anymore. I know very very few of the individuals on this forum personally, probably could recognize two of them if I saw them, I just don't understand why so much time and effort is expended in name calling and stone throwing it's never productive, which I have learned.

Well, are we talking about Weitze's put-together's or BNZ42's? It can be confusing.

The 22K SS uniform that was supposed to be auctioned at EMA has been recalled. Perhaps back to Hamburg??????? What is going on?

bnz - I only asked a straight forward question for you to clear up the confusion between your statements.

All you have to do is give a straight answer - it can't be that difficult.

You can discuss my SS wrap all you like - it's been on my website for years.

As for Mr Weitze - how many more times does he have to be called a con artist, rip off merchant, fake dealer, etc and then every member agree with every comment made?? I totally agree - does that get it back on track??

However, I did buy a piece of Allach from him a few months back that wasn't a fake.

You guys really crack me up sometimes......

                                To the Older Collectors,

I was told that back in the early 1970's that SS cuff bands and some of the rarer SS collar tabs were in such high demand, that guys were stripping original "untouched" tunics just to sell off the insignias. Is this just a myth or is there any truth to this ? Just curious.

Also, I been following this entire thread and I must say that there are view points that I whole heartedly agree with, but there are some that I don't. First of all, everyone would like and wish that every SS uniform came with solid provenance, but this is just not the case. I own a few direct vet purchase SS tunics, but the guys who bought them from the vets never received, or even cared, for that matter, to get a written statement or photos from the vet. The guys who bought them, were Hotel buyers, and most of the time, they do not care about the historical significance of the item, but only about sellng them and getting a profit. Anyway, they are real, I totally believe they are real, and I am totally fine that they do not have the "solid" provenance with them. Like someone mentioned, the items must stand on their own merit! So, you have to know what you are doing and looking at before you purchase, and I mean from anyone, not just dealers!

I know of several 100% original SS tunics in old collections (40 alone in one collection) and I can assure you that 90% of them do not have written letters and/or photos of the vets holding them, etc.... The era when these were purchased people didn't have to worry about what we, as collectors, today have to deal or worry about. So, I purpose a question, when the time does come when these tunics surface, and someday they will, then will everyone condem these original tunics, or look at them with scrutiny ??
Or, will everyone pass on them, because they do not have the rock solid provenance ?? Keep in mind, when these older collections become available, who do you think will buy them ? You are talking huge, huge sums of money. The same dealers that you are complaining about, might be the very ones that you have to deal with if you are wanting any of these "untouched" original tunics.

Do people remember when Bob Alexander sold off his collection at the MAX show? He sold a lot of the really awesome stuff the night before to Wolfe and other high end dealers, then he put the rest out on his tables. I remember that there was a huge pile of SS tunics on his tables. Were they all real? I do not know, I didn't look at them very close, but the majority of them sold pretty fast.

I totally agree that what Mr. Weitze did was absolutley wrong and the so called "excuse" was not right and he would have been better off by not saying anything at all, because he just made matters worse for all dealers.

No one is perfect, we all make mistakes, and we all are still learning as we continue in this hobby, business, and/or investments. Just be careful, do not buy without being absolutely sure that you are satisfied with what you are buying.
