    Tunic

In fairness to Post #29 - I believe they were trying to say the uniform in the wedding photo doesn't have the Driver Qual. Badge on the sleeve like the uniform on the post. This could have been added later, but didn't they say the uniform was stored since the wedding? Not trying to cast doubt - just didn't understand.

He might have worn it again when being home, but not for many occasions, maybee when going out or so.
Note he also won the Demjansk-shield (to be seen in the linked thread), but never fixed that one.

What I am trying to show is why this tunic and cap survived untouched, as it was never taken to the front. Note in the other fotos (to be seen in the linked thread, too) he is wearing a more "combat-like" tunic.

I agree, prewar and early they were issued 4 wool tunics and NCOs typically had more. Tailored tunics most often were left home for wear on leave etc. Later in the War Division supply Trains with baggage were lost in the retreats and most anything that was wanted for safe keeping was left home. Most the tunics that survived are the uniforms that were left in Germany for "best dress" etc. When an award was worn on the bar it was against regulation to wear a ribbon for the same award in a button hole. It was done but never the less uncommon and against regs etc.

                Uniform

Yeah - No doubt to me it's the same tunic. Notice the medal loop that is even with the third button down. Exact same position as in 2nd wedding photo. I think the medal loops threw some people off. They give the impression that they're higher than in the photo. But in the 2nd wedding photo, you can see he attached the badges lower and missed a loop (noticable on the photo). Wonderful tunic BTW!!

Yes, I noticed this, too - he fixed the EKI only in the lower loop of the set of 2 meant for it - and the BWB in the lower loop that was meant for this, and in the upper loop of the EKI.

                  Thanks for your kind compliment.

I guess he later used the loops of the medal-bar to wear his CCC, and fixed the EK-ribbon.
When you look close, you see the lower end of the EK-ribbon was unstitched, so the later added ribbon of the east-medal could slip under it. Both the east-medal ribbon and the loosen end of the EKII-ribbon were fixed witht the same thread.

I think the bar may have been pinned directly to the tunic for the wedding photo. It is on there tight to both ends. Later he modified it for later awards etc. The loops on there now are typical for a CCC and would be unusual for a medal or ribbon bar. It is normal to see modified issue tunics used as dress tunics mid to later War. He used what he for his best tunic had and then applied the regulations for wear of the full size bar and other awards on a full dress uniform. You see this fairly common with EMs and NCOs.
