What a fantastic tunic - and it is very interesting to note the many significant modifications made to this issue M42. I truly appreciate the opportunity to see these little details.

It is posts like this I think of when someone tells me (as happened a couple of times at The MAX last week) that the forum is a waste of time.

Yes indeed Mike, the opportunity to see sets like this, which for most would not happen without WAF, do make WAF VERY worthwhile.

About the comment at the Max, guys who say such things are either jealous or bitter. Or both!

I apologize if I have misspoken. I was basing what I said off another another post. I have no knowledge of the vet, the group or the tunic aside from what is on the forum.

It is a wonderful tunic and I would love to have it in my collection. I know how difficult it can be to share one's collection to the slings and arrows of the internet. Please do not let a random statement on a message board prevent you from sharing more great pieces.

IMO the Tunic and Hat is exactly the same as you can see on the wedding photo. Absolutely no doubt!
Seems that i was 32 years to late.

Just had a long phonecall with Christian (malborghetto), he confirms that it is this tunic and cap.

He even has in his pocession written proof by the vet himself, that he had sold this tunic and visor back in 1978 for 300,-DM. The vet was after money all his live, and noted everything he spent or earned.

I was responding to an earlier and now edited post by Malborghetto that stated he knew the widow and daughter and that the tunic was sold stripped. That post has since been edited.

No worries - in the phonecall it just came to light that the wife has thought so (that the tunic was stripped, but I guess she was referring to another one, or the greatcoat shown in the linked thread).

He was so proud of his service in this division, as we see him wearing his original medals all the time at veterans-reunions, he would not hav stripped the tunic. Actually he got many problems during veterans-reunions form his comrades, wearing his medals with uncovered swastiaks. He dont gave a damn.

When there is photographic evidence and it can be traced back to the Vet it is sealed deal. I loved the other part of the grouping and now with this it is fantastic. I agree perhaps the daughter was referring to the overcoat having the insignia removed?

Can you make a good scan on the belt-hook-holes-area in the wedding picture? In the comparison pictures below, it seems the distance from the pocket to holes is a bit different.

Its the same, easy to be seen by the lower hole wich is a bit out of the line (to the right) in comparisson to the others:

They match up perfectly to me, when the tunic is worn it will appear slightly different than when it is flat. Even the uneven placement of the lower belt ramp can be seen, it is slightly out of line with the two upper holes. Everything IMO matches up perfectly. This was the first thing I looked at.

Could we see the interior of the cloth-billed crusher? Of the originals I've seen, it appears that no two are exactly alike...
