This topic item was evidently posted here and then removed and now iI see it posted on GDC:
The family member had posted it online, looking for value and where/how it should be sold. He ended up sending the ring and box to Don for an authentication. Things fell apart with Don, so the guy demanded that Don return the objects, which he sent to me, and which I purchased. Don told him the box was a "poor quality reproduction from the 1940s" but offered to take it off his hands. I'm glad Don did that, because the kid got really pissed off, asked for it back, and sent it to me. I was very glad to buy the set, as the box is 100% original in my view. I frankly didn't know the ring topic had been pulled, but no matter. Here are the photos.

Gary,I think it was on the General awards forum not the SS one. The poster was rcje10 I had pm contact with him so know that for sure.Now his history shows he has zero posts, so something is up and the thread was not only locked down but cleaned down, why ?

Ok will look in his profile, but you may want to add ask the mods in that area as well,however why threads are locked/cleaned/deleted are an admin issues.

Understood and appreciated.I think the photos were hosted ones,not on the WAF system.Maybe the links failed to work and a Mod decided the thread had no worth.

I have looked, the thread was in the GA forum not here, there is one thread started by that poster not a long thread only 1 page in that thread, he was the owner wanting to sell it, he asked for it to be removed, so it was soft deleted, his pictures were outside hosted as he is only a member so you might want to ask him direct if he wants to repost his images in this thread

Then you should have said that in your first post that this was a quote from Gottlieb and maybe posted a link to where he said it,your post made it look (to me anyway) that this is what you were saying
