    Unusual SS Flak/Panzer Uniform

    Hello All,

Here is a recent addition. Officially introduced in September 1942, it is the "Protective Suit for FLAK Crews". Though not widely worn, there are eight period pictures of it in use by SS panzer and FLAK crews in Volume 3 (pages 797-803) in Mike Beaver's uniform series. Most notable is the picture of Hauptsturmfuhrer Rudolf von Ribbentrop, his arm in a sling, immediately after his company (3/I SS Panzerregiment 12) had lost 7 of 12 panthers in an an abortive attack against Canadian defences in Normandy. A well-known picture, few had recognized the cmparatively unique uniform he was wearing.

This set was originally from Mike Beaver through a well known dealer.

                  Hello Mike,
                  Congrats on another great purchase!
If I am not mistaken, this one is marked SS BW correct?

again LSSAH.I would guess that the latter 2 photo's have the pleated pockets although it is not visable in the shots as these are early photo's

I must say that this must rate as a very Rare piece of Kit,Congrats and I hope the photo's are off use to you,

                      cheers,

                      Gary

                        Mike,

I have just checked the TK photo's as well and it they seem to be the first pattern as well with pleated pockets

                          Hi Gary,

God Bless - would adopt you if I could.(!!!) I have never seen those photos before - thank you very very much. The uniform appears unissued (no pleats) and very late war.

                          Hi MGN.

                          Yes you are right.

                          Mike

Have you got money if so I will put myself up for adoption tomorrow

These are private photos I have, in fact I think I have found another its a long shot this is a much later shot and when you look at the picture on the whole you do not really notice it, but I will do you a blow up of the area of interest, again LSSAH somewhere on the Normandy battle front
                            cheers,
                            Gary
