    They are real and originals had the red eyes. The history is interesting with these because they were faked on such a large-scale that before reference books and the Web etc. many people did not believe they were ever a period item. There is an original shown in the Heraldry of War book from the 60s or early 70s , that is the first one I ever saw and it predated the larg-scale production of these in the 70's. They were very popular with bikers.
