That is a classic....

I think the entire thing was a re-draw... You can see numerous details and changes on the man, from his cap badge, hand, uniform, background... Its a ground up shocker!!!

As I said, its more than just a wrong letter and a lacking apostrophe!

The entire thing is a ground up re-do....Look at the text placement in relation to the SS Runes, not to mention the background details and numerous differences on the soldier / uniform.

As far as fakes go these ones stand out like a fat bastard in an anorexia clinic.

Hi,

you are totally right Max, but many collectors are not as smart as us, and sometimes a small but evident error is more easy to keep in mind.
The color of the text is a good way to spot the fake too.

It would be interested to know why the whole poster was redrow in full.
We can see that the soldier was enlarged, an usual way for fakers to keep details.

Another novice question:

Typically where in Germany (and elsewhere?) would such posters be posted?

America has had some tradition of martial posters of like kind during wars, which would be found in homes, shops, schools, recruiting depots, military installations, government buildings (e.g. post offices, hospitals etc.) - but, to my knowledge at the moment, not seen very often on what few kiosks exist here or on exterior urban walls.

Just trying to get an image of how these were used, and maybe even by whom.

I have the same fake. Got it on Ebay way back. Seller swore his father brought it back from the war. An Ebay seller would never lie though, so I'm confused...

Also recently realized my SS Wallonie poster is fake too (at least according to this thread). So I'm O for 2.

Ahhh... what a hobby. I'm pretty much out of it because of this kind of stuff.

The chances of scoring an original through Ebay is about 100 million to 1.

Even then you take the risk that they have used photos of an original and what you receive in the mail is something else altogether.

Thank you so much. Kiosks have not very much caught on in my country, for whatever reason. I guessed that these posters were used on them in Germany and Europe, but did not want to assume.

Today I've seen a SS Handschar Poster which is up for sale at the German MFF.
The same type of posters have sold recently at mil321 for very little money. One was offered as an original, one as a copy.
As I'm everything but not an expert when it comes to such posters I'd like to show the links for opinions.
