The Gestapo poster is IMO a French post-war or at least post-liberation anti-nazi poster, something like the very well-known Italian 'Ecco il Nemico!'-poster with the aristocrat WH officer and gallows.
The date 1944 could refer to the last third of that year, when a big part of France was already liberated. The above mentioned Italian poster was also published in the final stage of the war.
In any case it's an ugly bastard poster, style reminds me of certain leftist propaganda. It's possible it's even a filmposter.

Is the Sluyterman poster printed on thick, shiny paper? The whole series was reprinted in the 1980's and were very popular in European right-wing organisations.
The right translation (not literally!) is 'The God that provided iron didn't want (us to be) slaves!'

It' a very well known verse (also a song) by Ernst Moritz Arndt from 1812, during the German Liberation Wars against Napoleon. The music to this song (that is rather difficult to sing) was older, by Albert Methfessel. Here's the whole text of this magnificent poem:

Der Gott, der Eisen wachsen liess
    der wollte keine Knechte,
drum gab er Säbel, Schwert und Spieß
    dem Mann in seine Rechte;
drum gab er ihm den kühnen Mut
    den Zorn der freien Rede,
daß er bestände bis aufs Blut
bis in den Tod die Fehde

So wollen wir, was Gott gewollt
    mit rechter Treue halten
    und nimmer im Tyrannensold
    die Menschenschädel spalten.
Doch wer für Tand und Schande ficht
    den hauen wir zu Scherben,
der soll im deutschen Lande nicht
    mit deutschen Männern erben

    O Deutschland, heil'ges Vaterland!
    O deutsche Lieb' und Treue!
Du hohes Land, du schönes Land!
    Dir schwören wir aufs neue:
Dem Buben und dem Knecht die Acht!
    Der fütt're Krähn und Raben.
So ziehn wir aus zur Herrmansschlacht
    und wollen Rache haben.

Lasst brausen, was nur brausen kann
    in hellen, lichten Flammen!
Ihr Deutschen alle, Mann für Mann
    fürs Vaterland zusammen!
    Und hebt die Herzen himmelan
    und himmelan die Hände,
und rufet alle, Mann für Mann
    Die Knechtschaft hat ein Ende!

Laßt klingen, was nur klingen kann
    Trompeten, Trommeln, Flöten
Wir wollen heute Mann für Mann
    mit Blut das Eisen röten
    mit Henker- und mit Knechteblut
    o süßer Tag der Rache
    Das klinget allen Deutschen gut
    daß ist die große Sache

Lasst wehen nur, was wehen kann
    Standarten wehn und Fahnen!
Wir wollen heut uns Mann für Mann
    zum Heldentode mahnen:
    Auf, fliege, stolzes Siegspanier
    voran dem kühnen Reihen!
    Wir siegen oder sterben hier
    den süssen Tod der Freien

I really can't imagine, Michael, where you got that ridiculous 'translation'...

          Note

Ok...so how is me defending what I have shooting the messenger??

Tell me how does insulting me and my German speaking and understanding abilities advance the discussion?? I would really like to know because I insulted no one, I used no profanity un-like others. I did not question the abilities of anyone. I did not charachterize ones abilities in this area of collecting as some have...."He is adamant that these are original and yet says that he has been collecting posters half his life! Go figure".

I guess just because you have been a member of this forum longer then someone else, that gives you the right to treat someone like this, right?

I didnt pay anything for these posters, they are not blown up post cards, and for me to sit here now and try to reply to every point that has been raised is pointless because I now know how someone is treated simply by posting or making a contribution to a thread.

          Thanks for the warm welcome.

If you cannot see how your initial response to my opinion of your posters was inflammatory then you must be delusional. You simply did not like the answer your received.

Your response was rude and abrupt and made a hell of alot of assumptions!!!

So think again before you type, claiming to be the victim.

On E-Stand, looks to be another of the shiny surface fakes.

I am betting that if a UV blacklight was held against any of those paper scuffs / tears that it would light ups like a Christmas tree........much like mine did...

There is also another of the dubious Mjolnir posters for sale... I know some argue for them (mainly those that have a copy) but I am firmly against them being original.

I was wondering if any Anton's "Bosanci!" survived the war.
I would love to see an original oen.

This one that Vince posted a few pages back?

I've never seen one for sale but I guess at least one (or a postcard) exists somewhere for it to be printed in this magazine......

Yes both are fakes and the owners should be told.

the Anton "Bosanci !" is taken from the collection of Pierre-Ange Caravano.

                              See You

OK, I hit the link and read all the postings on the SS poster (not the Wallonie one) and sure enough, everybody posting on that thread declares it to be authentic. I don't own it, am not going to buy it, and have no idea on whether it's real or not. I'm just confused...
