a comment from the peanut gallery here. A local SS man (Regt T. Eicke and later Div. 30. Januar) said he had one visor from the end of 43-45.
It was his cousins army one where he had removed the cockade and army eagle and replaced it with a skull and SS eagle.

I would not buy a piece like that, but thought it may be of interest to those talking about regulations.

    Best
    Chris

I have posted this signals chrusher awhile back. The cap itself was okeyed, but the insignia was condemned. I am in the process off replacing the insignia. It is a very nice well worn cap, named a Wilhelm Wellhausen. the maker is Zacher.

A most interesting discussion. Colleague Abenheim's research is most instructive, as always; his dedication to this field has benefited all of us for many years. Colleague Jacquesf - would you please post scans of cap underside (perhaps again) for those of us who can't find original posting; have you sent these to Gary Wilkins for his thoughts? Everybody else: keep those pictures coming! By my own figures (I am a bean-counter by nature), there have been at least 23 of these branch-piped visors sold on the major international websites during the past 18 months (no kidding). If you have one, swallow hard and show us!

Colleague Tony2411 - Quite an assemblage. Do you have close-ups or underside-scans for our scavenging perusal?

                      Sorry Bruce - that's all I have.

The caps are from the late Brant Murphy's collection (of Third Reich Depot fame).

Here is one I had from a dealer in Europa.

It was piece made up from original and new parts. The lining had a faint Erel logo imprint. The cap body was too heavy and made from Gabardine.

The insignia was fake as well.

I sent it back and it was sold, reappeared on the website and then sold again
