    Heinrich Himmler's Shoulder Board

I thought you might like to see Heinrich Himmler's shoulder board. The oak leaves device is made of silver and is attached by 5 prongs (I peeked). The oak leaves are toned almost to black. The prongs do not go through the back of the board, only throigh the braid.

Verso. I have given up hope of finding the pair of Himmler tabs to go with this board. I missed a pair, in the early 1970's and have never had the opportunity to find any others.

It is even hard to believe that such things exist! Thank you for sharing.
I remember, last year Winkler had Gorings' tab for sale.

A beautiful and rare piece Bob. You must still be kicking yourself after passing up the tabs in the '70s?!! I doubt they will be seen again for sometime.

Uh, yeah... I think "rare" is a severe understatement.

I'd love to hear the story behind this one! Is it something you can share with us?
Incredible piece of history. Items like this blow my mind. Congrats!

Back in 1975, Jeff Roth and I dedided to try something new and set up in motels to buy militaria, using a huge amount of newspaper ad space to get our message across to a larger percent of the population. In a large midwest city, lived an intelligence officer who made Himmler's summer residence his command post. From this incredible soldier, Jeff Roth and I bought 4 standards: Pioneer 4x4, signals swallow tail, artillery swallow tail, and the only known Nebelwerfur swallow tail. With each were the tassels and pole tops. We bought many other rare items from him, to include personal books from Himmler's library, articles of insignia to include the 2 mismatched shoulder boards, a cased L/12 iron Cross 2nd Class that was in Himmler's wall safe. His friend got Himmler's chained damascus honor dagger, Himmler's medal bar, and a cased German Order, which were also in Himmler's safe. Even though the Iron Cross and German order were not awarded to Himmler, they were in his safe.

He spoke of a chair, carved out with full coverage of 'mystical runics' ,that he used while sitting at Himmler's desk. I know that Chuck Scaglione used to own that chair. He was always sorry he did not take the chair, but let it be taken by one of his junior officers. He told us that all the officers and men were given items from Himmlers home for their souvenirs. One of the books still had a hole and a .32 calibre bullet in it. As his soldiers were carrying out the books, a single SS man came from around the corner and took a pistol shot at a US soldier, carrying a stack of books. The book stopped the .32, and the SS man was killed by many shots from other US soldiers. I am sorry I ever traded away that nothing book, with Himmlers green wax pencil sgnature, inside the front cover. The book was nothing, but the story was priceless.

This soldier was very consious of his privacy, but we became somewhat connected as he understood my passion for collecting. Each of his stations, as they moved to new headquarters, brought him more incredible war trophys and, to this day, I wonder what he may have kept for himself. I only own a few of the items, such as the board, an un-numbered Blood Order, the L/12 cased IC 2nd Class, and one of the heer pole tops he sold us.

Thank you so much, for sharing these pictures Mr. Hritz!
That is one of the coolest SS items I've ever seen.
It must feel awesome, just to stop and think that you actually own something that belonged to Himmler and that he wore it.
                            Truly amazing!
Do you know if there are any markings on the silver oak leave pin?
Also, I wonder if there are any other collectors in the world that have
one of those. Anyone else ever seen one before?

                            Thanks again!
