It has original and perfectly matching insignia. However, it is odd that there is a hole showing just below the viewer's right wing of the eagle, or is that a prong?

I think that's a bent or broken prong.

Not a chance for the cap in my opinion.

          Hello,
I was under the impression that all Generals SS visors had to have silver piping not white??
          Thx Colin

Wasnt only one maker manufacturing the white SS visor caps? Mostly from my photo references was anyhow mostly black caps worn to the white uniform.
CollectorGuild got once a white visor that went to Doug B. Where is this visor now, and got it white or silver piping, was it a RZM cap?

White piped for Officers, silver piped for General ranks.

I doubt any white visor cap was RZM marked, Kleiderkasse book offers Führer Schirmmütze in white. So I dount RZM makes sense for those hats.

We remember this original visor set! Fantastic

On this one there are silver piping, just not on the top of the cap this is a discrepancy from normal generals caps.

for my view and further digging think its a copy visor.

My 'guess' would be that silver piping on the top may have been optional because my summer General (Luft) uses no gold piping on top, my summer Teno has no silver piping on the top and on my summer Reichs level there's no gold piping on the top.

Is it me or is there a lot of fake/repro in this auction? I was looking at that m38 palm tree camo smock. And it just doesn't seem right.. Where is the "elastic" sew in the middle?

B.Alexanders reference has silver piping on top and on the crown. Off. white around the crown.

The SS white cap was originally planned to be manufactured through the RZM but that was changed in June 1939 when the RZM announced:
"The sale of the new SS summer white caps will not be done through the RZM. Rather, the RZM has transferred the manufacture and sale of white SS summer hats to approved cap manufacturers."

thank you Derek, so we are on the same page. Just wonder who was the maker. Assume Müller.

                            Robert,
I believe the caps could be made and sold by any cap maker with an RZM license.
The last white topped officer's cap I had was made by Clemens Wagner.
