I can't say definitively that it's good or bad. The style of the eagle is different than that of ones we're used to seeing, but this could be explained by where it was made. Remember, these items were made throughout the theater by mom-and-pop shops that were authorized to do so (same with "Hermann Göring" cuff titles and why there are so many different wartime examples). I wouldn't get rid of it in any event; for now, I'll call it a theater-made variant.

Here is one more......in situs
A rather common eagle, but on a very uncommon four pocket Luft. tunic. This eagle is from Eric's tunic, which was on the cover of Chris Mason's book and also illustrated in Vol.2 of Angolia's Luftwaffe book. The tunic belonged to Feldwebel Haug, a Granite team leader in the glider assault on Eben Emael.

Dirk,
It's a very typical eagle you've there.
I can't say it's good or fake either...,but I won't say it's a fake...
I agree with Gene that there were items made in war that looked different from the basic stuff.
As long you don't find these on every cornerstreet consider it as good till proof is found these are bad.
Gents,buckle up !
What do you think of my drooptail eagle ?

John,
here's the thread I've posted Ralph's eagle in after I'd asked permision.
Shows some more wear, but also a great piece IMO.
BTW,I once had a very early Assmann Pilotsbadge, also no makersmark in it.

Hi Jos,
Sorry about the camera
This is out of my experience, but why should that stop me!
Once saw an officer's flying blouse with the final version of the machine woven breast eagle that was correct and original to the blouse.
Have never seen this early "droop tail" woven type applied to a uniform. Still, I think it is a good eagle. What's your opinion?
