    Hi Schnellmeyer,

My Mother made the phone call and one of the fishermen who is related to her was call Mick Guihan. They are finding out more for me.

I think some college student may have done a college theseus on this whole affair too. More information on that I will hear too.

"So if it's missing in the picture, its because it was taken off? While the plane was still burning? Really?"

        Have you been drinking Darell?

        Step 1: Swastica was removed.
Step 2: Plane was set on fire.
Step 3: photo was taken, which logicaly shows missing swastica and plane on fire.

Well Dragon it's a small world , the man I spoke to was Pat Guihan and I also spoke to Jeremiah Guihan who were both brothers of Michael I think . I have just checked my notes on this crash . On the day the body was found Michael was fishing with two other local men , they bought the body ashore at Kilmacillogue Harbour and contacted the Gardai .
If you can help me with any other details I would be most grateful , please feel free to send me a PM if you want , thanks.

I have also photos of the FW 200 Condor that crashed on Mount Brandon, Co.Kerry which is not too far from my home . In the photos you can clearly see the swastika on the tail and later where they were removed . Would be nice to know if they too survived ???

                      Great tail and tale guys!!

Here is my Ju-88 tail section recovered in North Africa. A knowledgeable collector indicated previously that, based on the information plate attached to the interior part of the tail section, it came from a JU-88 A11, which is a "tropicalized" version of the JU-88 (which fits nicely with the North Africa connection).

As a side note, this tail was spotted bya police officer as he was driving his patrol car through a residential neighborhood. The tail was in a trash bin on the side of the road waiting for trash pick-up day. The officer knocked on the door and an old gentlemen indicated that the tail section had been picked up by his brother in North Africa. His brother had died the prior week and he was cleaning out all of his stuff. The officer asked if he could take the tail section and the old gentlemen agreed.

now are those countersunk rivets on the outside of the tail? and if so what explains the rivets on the stringers that look like they have universal heads on the back side that was most likely bucked?

its reversed riveting ( the whole Ju 88 fuselage is riveted like that and the other side is smoothet out, sanded down. this makes the fuselage a lot smoother . the only parts that have the riveted the other way are those behind fairings and will not inerfeer with airflow ) if you wonder about thsi method i can give lots of pictures showing this with the Ju 88 A1 0880119 that we are restoring at Gardermoen. at first i also found this strange but after a while we just realized that it is what it is and they did it that way to make a better fuselage. all stringers in the Ju 88 are riveted this way
