OK, I finally was able to make some photos so let's have some fun.

Overall view - classic LW officer cut.

Perfectly standard Luft cut. Despite the concerns voiced over the insignia application, in the absence of signs of previous insignia I wouldn't have a problem with it.

So, now for the nitty gritty - the insignia.

Collar tab sewing: I didn't react to the earlier skeptical comments about the application, preferring to wait until I had the uniform in hand. After inspection, I don't really see anything that causes me to believe that they are not originally applied. I have seen all kinds of original applications - machine applied (yes, sometimes 'sloppy'), hand sewn, etc. I have not tried the UV light yet...

Sew in shoulder boards. Note that a device was hitherto applied to the board's center, likely a pip which was moved at promotion. The boards are very tightly sewn into the shoulder seam. Also note that the tops are Heer style, non bright metallic.

More shoulder board sewing detail. The shoulder board button appears to be originally sewn. I see no trace of previous buttons or shoulder board sewing.

National emblem: hand sewn as one would expect with blue grey thread. I don't see anything out of the ordinary. I was unable to detect sign of any previous application. What looks to be loose thread is actually some of the eagle's backing which has frayed. I have seen this often but it is not as noticeable against blue fabric.

Note that the buttons are the painted pebbled variety and all appear to be originally sewn.

                        Finally, a couple more views.

So, I'll allow those interested to absorb and remark before commenting again.

Looks like I would expect, boards and tabs and button application seems plausible. I don't see anything wrong with it. Neat tunic. Just curious, any chance there was ever a cufftitle? I would think that there may have been one at some time possibly. But sometimes they did not.

Ah, good question. I did look for traces of former sleeveband but found none. I don't think it ever had one applied....

This tunic looks perfectly fine, maybe someday we'll see another example with that shade ?

                                This got me thinking

Look at the photos in the back of Brian Davis' LW Uniforms book Vol 2.

There is a very odd picture of a fellow in a similar tunic with what appears to be SS collar tabs and shoulder boards. All with an LW eagle on his chest.

Has anyone ever explained that or figured out the organisation?

                                Timo
