Oberleutnant Hans Kirchmeier. Flugzeugfuhrer in Jg 5 "Eismeer".

KIA 8 Okt 44 at Petsamo Airfield Finland. Crash landed his Fw-190, lost control, and it blew-up.

Tunic is named to him. Picture must have been taken before he was awarded his DKiG. Interesting that his name is misspelled "Kirchmaier" on his sterbebild.

Very nice, but it seems that the eagle has been replaced compared to the Sterbebild.

Early drooptail eagle vs 2e model eagle ..
Don't think that this was done during war.
Also, all family names are mispelled in the sterbebild then, hard to believe.

I wondered about that as well, but when you look at the eagle on the sterbebild as an enlargement you can see the whole left side of it looks funky, like it was touched-up by the photographer. Look at the disproportionate size in the picture between the left and right wings and the unusual shape of the tail. The eagle's left wing looks fat like on the tunic. I have seen many bullion 2nd model Luft breast eagles, but none that had tails that looked like a fanned out shrimp tail.

On the tunic the eagle looks like it has always been there as well.

Nonetheless, I do agree with you - it is a very nice tunic and one of my favorites.

Also, I agree - I've seen numerous "sterbes" where the names are misspelled - heck, I've even seen them where the picture isn't the right guy.

Hallo Waffenreich, es gibt diese Adler 2 Modell wo der Schwanz aussieht wie aufgefächerter Garnelen Schwanz (deine Worte). Die Adler von Jacke und Bild sind nicht gleich.

Hi Waffenreich, there is this Eagle 2 model where the tail looks like shrimp an up Dick (your words). The Eagle jacket and image are not the same.
