    Hi Guys

    Just a little update.

Have now managed to find an extra charge tin for the ammo box, so this is now complete, see attached picture.

May have some more news regarding the mortar itself in a couple of weeks.

    Regards

    Richard

      Hi Guys

As promised more news on the mortar.

I now have managed to find a breech for the mortar, which makes it just about complete.

      Regards

      Richard

          Hi Chris

No sorry I do not have a picture from inside of the cover, but from memory it has no firing pin or internals.

Will try and get a picture for you in the next couple of days.

          Regards

          Richard

            Hi Chris

Had a look this afternoon at the breech and indeed it still has a lot of the internals, see attached pictures.

            Regards

            Richard

              Hello Richard,

sorry my fault, I mean the inner side of cover of the wooden box for the shells.
I can't imagine from the lousy pics I got, how the shells and cans are held in
place when the box is closed. But the pics from the "breech" are also interesting.

              Kind regards
              Chris

                Hi Chris

The ammo box lid is just flat, no fixings. The bombs and charge tins are level with the top edge of the sides and held in place by the lid.

I hope I have explained this OK.

                Regards

                Richard

Many thanks Richard. May I ask you for the dimensions of the box?
                  I found 78cm x 34cm x 16,5cm, is this correct?

                  Kind regards
                  Chris

Well it has finally happened. Over the last 10 months, spare time permitting, I have been working on restoring the mortar. It is a combination of Russian tube and recoil system, German Bipod and vertical adjuster and the baseplate which due to heavy rust can not be identified.

The tube is dated 1940, but can not identify the maker due the markings being too faint. The German parts are marked BWO, Rheinmetall Borsig A.-G, Werk, Dusseldorf, with a 51 in a triangle, unknown and a waffenampt of Wa721.

There is still a little painting to do on some repro parts, I and a friend made and some touch up work from when it was put together.

I have to say it looks very impressive, but is very heavy and awkward to move, even with 3 people.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.

                        Regards
