Cleaning my collection, I rediscovered this item. I bought it about 30 years ago, it was hidden in a 1938 dated 88 flak shell. I supposed that it was used for cleaning barrel. the part with metallic brush is free to turn. It fits perfectly in the 88 shell.

markings are B18984 on the external ring and B181982 on the internal

BTW, that case has an electrical primer so, if original to the case, it might have been used for a tank.

thanks for the information. these shell are not "upgraded". It is untouched. I bought it on a flea market. With the cleaning head, price was 30 euros.

German regular artillery used mechanical primers, tanks used electrical ones, in general terms. Aviation guns, some used mechanical and others used electrical. For example MG151 could use both, depending on the variant of gun on the plane. Ammo 3cm x 184b used mechanical ones for the MK101 but electrical for the MK103. I believe it was the same ammo for the FlaK guns and the Tiger I Kwk gun. The difference would be the primer:

Cartridge cases for 8.8cm FlaK.18 / 36/37 and 8.8cm KwK.36 tank gun were exactly the same except for the primers.

Won't you be confusing this ammo with the 7,5cm for Kwk40 and the PaK40? The shells are the same but the case for the Kwk40 has a shoulder and electrical primer while that for the PaK40 is straight and has a mechanical primer.

well if i understand well, panzer were with electrical ingnition and flak with mechanical. something curious is that these cases are from brest and i can not rember that we 've had some tigers here. I ve some more cases with electrical primer I bought on flea market
