Thank all for answer, but can someone give me some serious and trustfull information somewhere in some dokuments or have some evidence of it, then this is the post WAR colour ? Or only listen it from someone.....So many collectors think then this is post war Czechoslovakia colour for civil defence, or for so called EGYPT contract or something like that, but no one have serious evidence for it and in CS no one know about it too, no information in archives from veterans and so on...it seems someone just created this information from nothing and so many people belive in it.....Will be very happy for some serious information about it. Regards to all.

I had one once , my wife bought it from a London dealer as a DAK helmet many years ago as a suprise Xmas gift for me , it never felt right it was too clean and odd looking , eventually forums came along and Bollox ! , over the years we have seen a lot of them posted up sadly they are what they are post war used . And of course absolutely nothing like a genuine sweat grime incrusted battle used DAK helmet . Rob

Nothing to do with DAK helmet or Norwegian army but ...
You are right those helmets came on the market in the 80's+90's , for most of them directly from the Czech civil defense stocks ,brand new still wrapped in paper .
Reconditioned by the German Army logistic after 43 like many other things,
repainted in the late war ordnance sand colour , same as the well known 6x30 Binoculars ?
I know somebody of the 4 SS-Polizei division going to Greece in Spring 44 ,stopping by in the north of Prag to get the complete brand new WSS tropical outfit, including a sand colour helmet ...
He said it was a huge depot mainly full of uniforms where "descending" troops received tropical outfits and "moving back" troops received back continental outfits .
Coming back in the Fall , he gave it back and got a new continental set !
So ? Egyptian contract , post war CS ... ?
            IMO german late war ...

              Nick,

I respectfully disagree. I still hold these helmets are Post war reconditioned helmets.

And do you have any evidence to indicate that these are wartime helmets?
How many helmets like this have been recovered from battlefields, how many have been found that are battle damaged, have names or Feldpostnummer in them? How many that are yellow inside are were later painted white or otherwise camouflaged? I have never seen any of the above that were not obvious fakes.

All those helmets were found with original liners+straps only ...i had a pile of 500 like these in front of me in 1990 coming directly from the CZ civil defence stocks !
Reconditioned yes of course , but during the second part of the war when everything had to be saved and reissued .
In that case for the Südfront !
CZ border guards repainted them in olive green ,not sand , over the original paint (+ badges in case of ! ) .Original liners+straps .
CZ firemen repainted them in black with or without the original paint, both are observed . But we found them also black over ...sand colour !
Original german or CZ liners replaced, CZ straps most of the time .
So who decided the rumor saying it has been some kind of Egyptian contract ?
Which proof of it do we have ?
At that time we found also a camo helmet with that sand colour inside ? Egyptian camo back from the Sinai ?
I'm not satisfied at all with answers like " Post war repainted " , sorry . It's not enough to convince me !

So why" for sure " please ?
Still not convinced as many other people in Europe, having the whole story on hands and really looking at all the details ?
Give me only one good reason , more than "post war for sure" ?

Interesting discussions.....but if this colour is post war, who make it and why, some helmets have several colours and yelow on the top and some only yelow one on metal. For so called Egyptian contract there is no evidence, I know then it started after 1990 by some big collector of german helmets which can buy a lot of this helmets from Czechoslovakia storages and someone cheat them and bought it instead him and he started to spread this information and devaluate this helmest...I have so many this helmets and 90% were repainted by black one colour....And in Czech Republic, there is a lot of helmet collectors and they never hear about some Egyptian contract, or some post war repaintig of this helmets..only after 90s....from abroad.....

There was an article of a Q&A with Bill Maertz on the Egyptian contract helmets on German-helmets.com but cant find it now. It gave quite a good plausible explanation of the origin. The first major point being the type of paint used and how it was baked on the lid was post war. Anyone else read it?
