    Marpo and Giorgio,
As you know I collect only RSI helmets....Royal helmets and experimental are out of my range...

I see that...This experimental type "Balma"...Use rivets not painted with the experimental color surface...
They used an early type liner marked 1939...With the matched 1939 liner. All could be correct...

I have only a question. There is a rivet in the photos, that appears to be re-opened in a second time.I don't know how I can explain this in English, but if someone know how the Italian rivets machine works...

    Sincerely...I am suspicious..

Guys...It's only a suspect...I never saw an helmet like this that I can affirm to be original...so..."Sorry"...I can make a big mistake!!

Stefano keep in mind this is an experimental helmet never mass produced or issued, attached find the pictures of the third split pin. Since the other one known are shells only this could be one or the only one completed to be tested possibly in the RSI period, if you look the pictures of the pins inside or outside you can see that have been there forever.

I know another collector in Italy that have one of these....I must take pictures.
Sincerely I don't remember the split pins

Please, I'm a natural born suspicious man...This helmet could be all correct!!So don't consider my troubles.

Regarding all the rivets...Yes...They were closed with the correct machine...They are tight to the shell. I don't see any problems.

But...About the "rusty" and "old" appareance of them(Probably not in this case)...It's very simple to reproduce...You can make it with firearms blueing acid...If you don't put oil after the application.

Yes, an italian collector friend saw this one a few years back, and confirmed this marking was specific to Marina helmets, but without being able to tell what it really meant. I wasn't aware that the production was different for marine equipments, and the "Modello Regia Marina" theory stands very well in this case.

Thanks for the link too, but without being registered in this forum, pics are not visible to the simple visitor. As these pics and posts there are yours, maybe could you post them here, it would IMO be a great addition to this thread.

Hallo Edelweiss if you wanti you can registred on BMF , is it totally free, to post pics too, same software of WA Forum.

Yes Inno good mark on RM helmet!!

Eheheh like me but is it better to survive at the fakes!!!

Probably the Gio helmet is it complete is some army depot. For sure for made the write into the helmet was only shell in fact the liner band is it in the same color ef exterior part of the helmet.
For complete this is it probably what at the time was used 2nd type rivet with normal grey green color.

Oh...Yeah!..The metallic liner band of this helmet has the same color of the shell.

                  Your suggestion, Lafitte, is exact!
                  Sprayed before and then assembled.

                  So...I must say...Nice "correct" helmet!!

I use to collect only RSI combat helmets because were used by 800.000 Italian soldiers full of strenght and honour !!

Never I had "will" to collect something like this.
I have a garret full of smelling Royal and experimental Italian helmets for sale...

                  I'm joking....

Without any joke,it would be really interesting to see one of these Balmas
that I heard to exist, complete, camo and with an RSI stencil on.This maybe
the joke:did you hear something like that?PaoloM

Great and interesting piece!!! I had one of them,(1978) in the Czech version, with
the same stencils, from a Bologna dealer that got a dozen of them in a garret
of a former depot of the Polizia Repubblicana.Look the colours of the Italian flag
                              painted wrongly in this way.PaoloM
