Thanks to lots of digging and the generosity of WAF member Kurt, I was finally able to put together a General Staff officer uniform - not all to one man, but the tunic and pants are named. The tunic I have posted before - it belonged to Major iG Hermann Kesselheim, Ia to the 17.ID, reported KIA in Russia January 1945 after having gone missing in 1944.
The breeches are interesting in that they are named to Hans Jochen Friedel, who was the GS officer that accompanied Admiral von Friedeberg and General Kinzel to Lüneberg Heath to surrender to Field Marshall Montgomery in May 1945.
The overseas cap is unnamed but a great match for the tunic and breeches in terms of wear. As a reformed visor cap snob, I have to say the OS cap is a real beauty...
