    General Staff Officer Uniform

Thanks to lots of digging and the generosity of WAF member Kurt, I was finally able to put together a General Staff officer uniform - not all to one man, but the tunic and pants are named. The tunic I have posted before - it belonged to Major iG Hermann Kesselheim, Ia to the 17.ID, reported KIA in Russia January 1945 after having gone missing in 1944.

The breeches are interesting in that they are named to Hans Jochen Friedel, who was the GS officer that accompanied Admiral von Friedeberg and General Kinzel to Lüneberg Heath to surrender to Field Marshall Montgomery in May 1945.

The overseas cap is unnamed but a great match for the tunic and breeches in terms of wear. As a reformed visor cap snob, I have to say the OS cap is a real beauty...

I apologize for the poor pics - we just got back from a trip and I have not had a chance to properly set the Herr Major up yet - my war room is usually not such a messy dump...

Looks nice, I still do not have a complete set for GS, very hard to find original items.

Thanks, all - much appreciated. Carmine piping is just stunning. One day, I'll hopefully find a piped set, and I regret to this day selling my GS Waffenrock, but it's in good hands. Here's some better pics without all the clutter...

Very nice set, Don! My GS set is one of the few items I regret selling.

                          Best regards,

                          Drew
