Follow the bread crumbs in the last Ebay seller and find the hidden treasure.

I already have....funny that when Jueterbog is mentioned all sorts of information or misinformation comes pouring out....Why did this not happen earlier with my initial inquiry?

But, just to make sure....you agree that the skulls in the eBay auction are "Berlin Hoard" Skulls right?

same scull after very mild cleaning (all silver now and still lots of patina left)

That is NOT silver plating....... Silver plating really shines, like you can see in the period photos.......

            2) Sellers are claiming take fake items are from the documented hoard with the hope of "cashing in" on the real find.

Why is this difficult to understand?

            It is easy to understand:

1.) The "real" hoard came from the Turmkaserne in Jueterbog

2.) The newspaper article - that no one here has evidently seen except me and a few others - is the only documentation of the "real" hoard. You guys are relying on the word of whoever you bought your skulls from who says they have also seen this the article.

3.) The only place any of us have seen this article is on Sandkastenmann's table with these SAME skulls you guys claim to be the "real" hoard skulls along with a bunch of other fake crap....as Jos has pointed out numerous times, but no one listens to.

That is crystal clear for me to understand....

The problem is that Robin stated they were good a long time ago. When he first saw the skulls he probably bought the story and the skulls without any personal or first hand information other than...... they came from a demolished barracks and (somewhere) there is a newspaper article that mentions it. Sounds believable to me.

Robin is also considered an "expert" and therefore will never change his mind since he has already issued an opinion. I bet if someone stepped forward and said "yes, the hoard is fake, the story is fake, the article is fake and so are the skulls - because I made them in my garage and set the whole thing up" Robin would continue to say that the ones he and you guys own are original and came from the "real" Berlin hoard...... which then would be a complete fantasy….. That is the problem when you become an “expert”, you can never change your mind and say….”I got it wrong”. Reputations are at stake here and all of you who want to believe are simply following Robin on this one.

Keep in mind, Robin has never seen the article and never heard of the Sandkastenmann until I mentioned him.

I have seen the Sandkastenmann, I have seen the article and I have seen all of the skulls (your skulls) that you guys say are from the real hoard and they are all the same…..from the Sandkastenmann.

All of the “I’s” have not been dotted here and the ones who believe are not interested in finding out the truth…..they do not have to as long as Robin says the skulls are good. I guarantee you if Robin said they were fake from the beginning I would never be able to convince you they were real no matter how hard I tried.

I also bet if there was no Robin and you guys said: "Hey look at the skull I got from the Berlin Hoard that is reported in some newspaper somewhere!" And then I came forward with what I know now as well as all of the others who feel as I do and have seen the article and Sandkastenmann you guys would have dropped those skulls like a hot potato.

Bow to your master…. He has saved your skulls

Nothing personal here, but that is just the way it is…. Funny that in Militaria the experts can never be wrong, but in other professions they can make mistakes. But I guess with Militaria a wrong diagnosis is not going to kill anyone, a mistake that respected doctors do make from time to time.

Ok, not silver plate but silver in appearance - still means, contrary to your earlier statement, the scull shown here has a silver finish.

By the way, the comarison piece next to the scull (in the above picture) is a 990 silver Reiterabzeichen.

Brad, not going to put words in anyone's mouth,,but Robin seems a gentleman and is a collector like the rest of us, true an author, but still makes mistakes like everyone else.
I remember him a few times apologized about the info in his older published books that wasn't so good, and also about Dachau depot insignia that he didn't believe in and hopefully does now.

I don't know about anyone else but I believe what I want to believe and only believe in the item not any stories. Guys that follow and believe blindly are the same that need CoAs etc. They usually lose in the end.

These skulls are trinkets, simple manufactured things, cheapies,. No brain surgery here. We're way past trying to determine fakes from good in 2010, with items like this you just can't anymore pure and simple.

                      I agree.

...and what does the item say?

Brad, has not added anything concrete to disproof these sculls as period items. He has so far only added more stories and speculation to these sculls.

I will have no problem changing my mind if evidence comes to light that these sculls were indeed manufactured recently.

Meanwhile, the item and not the story has me convinced, according to craftsmanship, materials and patina, that it was manufactured more than seventy years ago.

Well.....since no one here wants to hear what I have say.......guess I better hang up my hat.

But, if/when I find this guy again would you be interested in seeing all of what he sells?

Would you be interested seeing the newspaper article? That is if he will let me get a photo of it.

And, if I hear anything interesting from Jueterbog would you be interested in hearing what ever that may be?

PS. No disrespect intended to anyone here in this discussion, if any has been taken then I do apologize.

Yes, I would be interested to see the article. In the meantime some interesting photos about the different conditions of skulls, which were posted in the forum during last years.

Are these "Berlin Hoard" or not?

I notice that they have brass prongs, or at least they look brass to me. And the material certainly looks different than the ones with saw-tooth prongs, is that the case?

PS. I am only asking a question.....I am not stating anything.......
