I picked this up at an antique store in downtown Louisville a copule of months before the SOS. I just took it to the show to get some information about it. I didnt purchase it there. The guy I got it from ran the store and said ie got it in a trade and didnt know anymore about it other than he thought it was a PG tunic..

RIchard, On the tabs, I dont have a clue if they were added or not but one of the dealers at the SOS said he had one exactly liike mine and other than his, mine was the first one he had seen..That was after his buddy offered $1500 cash for the jacket.. On the tabs, should it have the ones pictured in post 16. I doubt Ill mess with the tunic and change anything , but I would like to get the other set of tabs and just keep them with the tunic.. Have any good sorces to get a pair of these?

        Johnny,

Wow , because I viewed what I consider a really nice uniform and comment on it here I am somehow involved in its sale? Your assessment is all wrong.

I am also not a dealer or the one who offered to buy it . To amplify on why I find this one so interesting, I have one almost identical to it. There are very few of these available photgraphed or otherwise to study.

Armystuff enjoy a great tunic IMHO.

I worded that wrong and was in a hurry sorry, I am trying to figure out if this is one that was at the SOS, did you have yours there? A friend said he saw one there and thought it was near GP or you may have had it on a friends table.

            I dont know about that?

I have never taken mine to any shows, at the SOS the only ornamented service blouse in this farbe I saw was the one Armystuff has? Next to nebel I would say it is one of rarest waffenfarbes to find for this style tunic.

I was told there was one at the SOS. My Wife is very smart and will never let me go there. The tunic in question may have had the piping applied postWar. The pictures are out of focus but to me it looks like the piping was inserted into the collar after the seam was reopened. There is a chance it was Infantry and they changed waffenfarbe and it was done Wartime etc. Hard to say. This is an example of typical quality for a tailor-made collar. It does not mean the other one is not real but this is what you see for something made by a professional tailor (regardless of when it was made).

I actually got off light, 3 shoe stores and one Mall. I got to go to my favorite Mexican place so it was a fair trade. When there is a Military collectables store in the Mall I told her we can go all day.

I remember your thread on a nebel tunic you had mixed vibes with on the farbe application and it is not unreasonable with the rarer farbes to do good investigative research for that reason.

If one was at the show other then Armystuffs I missed it.

There is too much money involved not to be careful. People think it is paranoia but I know there are people making tunics and have been told that by Dealer friends. They are replacing collars and adding piping etc. that is easy math if you know what you are doing.

I did have quick peek at the tunic in question at the show - literally a drive-by, but I thought at the time (and still do) that the tabs were not original to the tunic. Army, can we see a shot of where th eboards are sewn into the shoulder seam?

This is interesting when we are talking about greens that always cause the most controversy. In a different case you can find many examples of not close matches in litzen and straps on many em and officer alike tunics. Some GJ will have PZG intermixed.

If you take the totality of the tunic and each component application it doesnt make sense for me for everything to have been here but the tabs?

Here ya go Don..I added 4 more "new" pics to that folder for you to look at..I put a sample in the post for ya.. Reading all the comments and looking at the tunic, I have to say the piping and boards look original to the tunic to me.. the tabs, I dont know. I thought they were original too but im not the expert. I know the experts out there can fake anything. Ive collected military stuff for over 30 years, just not German, and thats because of all the fake stuff out there..I have a few pieces...SA Dager, several German Dress bayos, etc, etc. But when I saw this piece, the quality just stuck out and I jumped on it.....Hey, Im getting better with my camera..and new batteries helped! lol

Note one pip was missing when I got this tunic and for the time being, I installed that tarnished one off an original board I had in my collection. I did pick up an original replacement at the SOS but I need to pollish it up some to natch the other 3 pips before I install it..

Here's a comparison picture of an untouched tunic (named to german cross winner too) also with slightly different tabs
