I agree with Don and thought it was put together from the initial postings but did not want to interrupt the Love-in.

Telling dealers that you are looking for high end GD groupings is asking to get showered with put together garbage. GD/LW was certainly not someone with a lot of collecting knowledge but would go balistic at any questioning of his items and now we see more of his personality etc. as being dishonest.

In my opinion the "GD" lot is built from an original artillery officers tunic, that is based on the images and the things Don C noted, the silver devices, and the way the CTs are mounted.

I'm new here and learning all the time. But it seems that I'm on the wrong forum here. It seems as if I'm on the "I know best and I'm better than the rest" forum. Exactly as Macca stated, a bunch of school boys.
Is the fact of it having silver devices realy an item to make it a GD built up one? The only thing Don is talking about are the silver cyphers. Let us please not forget that Macca stated that it is a tailor made one, made around 1944. Does it always have to be textbook to be original? Is it not possible that the tailor didn't have any devices and that the family put it on to honour their son? Is it not possible that the guy at that moment didn't have gold devices to give to the tailor?
And what makes you think Johnny that it's not an original mounted CT?

I've been reading here on the WAF answers given to people and to be honest I'm not learning that much. Mostly the answers given are in the style of :

"I don't like it", I wouldn't buy it, the cyphers are silver so it isn't good, etc....

Further on this thread looks more like a witch hunt than a serious discussion on a tunic. And please let us discuss the whole tunic.
I don't know this GD/LW, but we're not here to discuss him, we're here to chat about a tunic.

Gunther, if you have ever handled an original gd tunic or GD shoulder straps , it would be evident that cyphers that have been on a tunic settles in a certain way on the shoulderboards. The same applies for the way the cufftitle settles on to the tunic after 50 odd years. The guys that are commenting happens to know this from experience, something it looks to me are seriously lacking on your behalf. You will with time spent on the forum learn which opinions to value and which to disregard. The approach and attitude you are taking is a dead end street. This forum can be an exceptional tool or a royal pain in the arse. It is up to you to determine which it is going to be. Welcome to the forum, a request was made for opinions and I expressed mine. Rather than anything I learned in school, my opinion is based on looking at a conservative estimate of several thousand German uniforms in private collections and museums over the last 30 some years and owning/selling/trading several hundred. My personal feeling is that it was built from an original Artillery tunic etc. I may be wrong but that is what is wonderful about opinions.

I've known a lot of experienced guy's who were wrong you know Jacques. Just take a look on the WAF and you'll see what I mean. It wouldn't be the first time that an experienced guy would have been wrong.
It's just that these guy's are always so full of themselves that they realy think that they're always right. For Christ sake saying that you've studied thousands of uniforms like Johnny or Don that is a sign of being Divine.

If someone were to buy this set (which was never going to be sold, by the way), do you think that if it were by some crazy stretch of the imagination ever to come on the market again that it would be snapped up as a one-looker? If the item were unquestionably original, I have no doubts it would be jumped on by serious GD collectors as GD items just don't fall off the turnip truck every day, let alone a supposedly matching set to one man.

So if you just joined the forum and have 11 posts how do you know who we are or what our levels of experience are? You have raised your flag high and clear and will be treated accordingly trust me. IMO the "GD" set is built garbage. Others can believe what they want. I do not need to prove anything to anyone and have always admited when I have been wrong. Divinity has nothing to do with it, it comes from having decades of experience not only with orginal items but also of how they are typically faked or upgraded.

Hi there gents..... Yes RAF1944(Gunther) is on my friends list.... happens when you find out an old friend who I stayed with back in 2005 had joined this forum.
