I would suspect there is a lot more variation than three different types only through the 15 years they were made though industrial manufacturing. I have seen hand made field versions as well.

It would theoretically consist of The Steuermann Badge / Steuermannsschein, equipment, history, vet accounts, et cetera of Sturmboot Kommando units.

Excellent, that is a book I'd definitely buy! I know you're quite knowledgable on Nebeltruppe in general (and have some choice items). Much like my niche of Steuermann/Sturmboot, it's a topic not often covered.

It will take years but it is fun. The info is out there in German and there is a active Veterans group with archives.

I will post mine when I get home. One question. Didn't a small number of Luftwaffe personnel also wear this sleeve badge? (Sort of like the Luftwaffe Farriers wearing the Army farrier badge)

Rob, here's the only phot I have of a Steuermann badge in wear. I can't be sure but it looks bullion, as does the breast eagle, to me. I wouldn't bet on this as I'm usually wrong. What do you think?
