Hello, good points all. Hey Jos, Mike F. kind of makes one feel abit old reading and discussing these aspects. Somewhere, sometime in the past I viewed a detailed sharp color pic of either Rudel or Oesau with what appeared to be a silver thread version breast eagle. The exact same as seen on issued jackets but silver thread as in SS officer bevo like sleeve eagles or Army off. breast eagle. I remember the pic was on the occasion of the pilots 100th victory. Ive searched constantly since but no luck. An officers issued jacket and a nco type? Best, Bill BourqueLast edited by hs132; 12-24-2008, 05:55 AM.

Geez, guys, you're killing me! Seeing all these jackets is driving me nuts. I have been looking for one for over 40 years with no luck. Somewhere in a closet or a footlocker or a duffle bag in an attic, or at the Salvation Army thrift store, or a Church rummage sale, one is waiting.........They can't ALL be gone!

Hi there!
I'm with Jos.
Originally posted by Jos Le Conté View PostOK, here I've a close-up of the collar..
We can see a seam running on the inside plus the zipper etc are sewn over the collar, that would make it having too many loose ends when removable IMO.
Originally posted by Jos Le Conté View PostToo me for now there're 2 types..
One that can be fully opened with the zipper running through the knitted waistband and one of the type "blouson" with full waistband..
Originally posted by Jos Le Conté View PostOne type has the buttons upside down and on the other type they're showing.., buttons can be placed left or right.
Originally posted by Jos Le Conté View PostExtra features we've seen : O2 straps removed , added fur collars, knitted wrist parts at the sleeves instead of open sleeves with buttons.., officer eagle instead of the white white backed NCO eagle..
- O2 strap removed, by the pilot, IMHO not a different manifacture feature.
- Fur collar added, as seen in some wartime pics
- Knitted wrist, add individually by the pilots. Everytime in a different colour, if compared to the waistband. See Oesau's white jacket.
- Officer eagle or blue backing NCO/EM add. IMHO the jacket was born with its white backing eagle.
Cheers!

The eagle you mean was blue or white backing? Its feature was like the lw flatwire eagle, as seen sometimes on 4 pckets NCO jacket or officer ones?

I personally think the 2 types of jackets all came from 1 manufacturer and all got the standard eagle on white backing..
The wool they used for the eagle is most probably of the shiny type we also find on many other insignia..
The silvery appearance is probably caused by the angle and the light sometimes..
Just my thought.
Here're eagle shots of 2 different jackets..
